Work sent me off to Norfolk to a class.  There was about 12 of us in Class.  Some of the folks were from the East Coast and some from the West.  This is how we were introduced to others... "Here is the new Team, the New Team is Composed of folks from the East Coast, The West Coast and then there's Grilldog!" Woof...

Ok, the East coast surfing contest was underway while I was there.  Hey guys...Go to California, these things here on the East just aren't waves, their tiny ripples!!!

Lynnhaven Fish Restaurant. For all of you who are religious followers of the ever lovable Grilldog, you know that he loves seafood.  In search of some yummie sea creatures, our hero stumbled upon Lynnhaven Restaurant.  It's not an all you can eat and it's a little pricey but the food is well worth it.  Be sure to have some of the Maryland Crab cakes.  I had the Captain's Platter, it had shrimp stuffed with Crab meat and the crab meat stuffing was awesome!!!

Capt'n George's...Ok so I had to go there.  For all of you loyal Grilldog Fans you know that I'm Grilldog aka George.  So when I heard that there was an all you can eat seafood buffett at Capt'n George's, well, I had to go! It was well worth it! Lots of Maryland steamed crabs, and other goodies.  Plus I had to buy a tee shirt!

The Great Steak.  Yes, you get a great steak and if it's not cooked right, you've only yourself to blame!
My buddy and I were hungry and looking for some red meat! And we found it!!! There on N Military Rd you'll find the Great Steak.  You order off the menu and you can either have your meat cooked for you or you can cook it yourself on there huge grille.  You just walk over to the fridge and pick the steak you want and cook it!  Cool... Well, unfortunatly, not all was cool for our little party.

The waitress at the Great Steak was super Great! She certainly was attentive to my bud and myself.  However, we were in a small room with just a few tables (as the place was packed) and a small group of about 12 came in and took over the rest of the area.  Well, no problem for good ole Grilldog and his sidekick.  Well, Grilldog Loves everyone and not to try and label anyone but let me start with a brief descriptions.  They were all dressed very professionally, all had small gold chains with a single cross on it.  They folded their hands and the lead person led them in prayer and they said amen afterwards.  In such a small area, it was easy to catch glimpses of their conversations which were pretty much about Sunday school, Sunday services.  I think I could safely label them a group of Christians.  My buddy and I had just came from class and we were dressed professionally, clean cut and were generally talking about life in San Diego.  It seems that this group didn't like my friend and I and demanded, yes they demanded that we be kicked out! Why?  What for?  I hear you ask!  Where we loud? Where we nasty?  What? No none of them.  Basically, the request went, we don't want their kind here! This is a family restaurant, please have them removed.  Yes, these opened minded, Love they Neighbor, treat thy neighbor as thyself, basically thought we were gay and wanted us removed.

Well, Good Ole Grilldog loves everyone, no matter what their sexual identity is!  Who cares, as long as no one is getting hurt (and kids are NOT involved)  who cares.  Plus to be so offended as to ask us to be removed! That was ridiculous.  Well, the waitress did her best to tell us what was going on and even said that we didn't have to leave if we didn't want to and that we were welcomed back anytime.  So what did me and my buddy do, well, we really started hamming it up with the ole "gay stereotypes" the poor waitress was in tears laughing (I don't think she cared much for those Christians either).  Anyway, we left and 3 paws for the Great Steak Restaurant, 4 paws and a tail for our waitress and one gigantic Saturday night hind leg salute for a bunch of narrow minded bigots hiding behind the name of their God.  Which just goes to prove, I'll never be God because I'd throw a lighting bolt up each of their tight butts!

Lone Star - Know the place that you can eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor!  Well, they don't do that any more as some person slipped and sued the place for a couple million and won.  Excuse me, but if you see a bunch of peanut shells on the floor, shouldn't you be a little careful.  I want to find a lawyer that will sue people for being an asshole! But I digressed... Lone Star, great food, fun place, good happy hour I loved it and good prices!  Just down the street from our hotel.

Ok, Get Mad at Grilldog.  Just a little way down the road on N. Military Hwy from the Airport are two notable restaurants, one is Mongolian and one is Indian.  The Indian Restaurant has great food and you should go, I think the place was called Naab or something like that.  The Mongolian restaurant should be avoided.  Not so bad as to get the ole Hind Leg salute but bland enough to bark at!

Where would I go if I went back, well to the Lone Star to chill and to Capt'n George's to Indulged.

And that's the Grilldog Report for my Stay in Norfolk/Virginia Beach Virginia... Next adventure... I'm heading back to Big Bear, California!!!
