TX - Trials...

Of course I stopped at the Wine Bar at the Dallas Ft/Worth Airport. There I met Glen, Ken was off.  Ken says to tell everyone that he is a big Wizard of Oz fan.  In fact he is beginning to be known as Glenda! (I didn't ask).  To Celebrate his Oz affection, he is offering One Free Glass of wine to any "Little Person" who appeared in MGM's Original Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland.  After, a quick chat with Ken I then got on board a death trap (oh excuse me American Airlines, an American Eagle).  Naturally, the process was unorganized, AA had to bus us out to the plane in 105 degree heat, and because there were no pilot or stewardess, we had to sit in the bus for 1/2 hour.  Didn't they know no one was in the plane???

Needless to say, I didn't stay at the Best Western and went straight for the Econo Lodge, checked in and my Bud Julie and her gang had a Good Old Fashion Texas Ho Down planned.

So, First, I grabbed a quick bite at one of the McBride's Pioneer Family Restaurants (it's better then McDonalds).  They have quick service, a no smoking section, and good daily specials.  I had the BBQ Dinner plate...Don't eat it... Yech

Well, where does the party crowd go to let loose, why Outskirts of course, we partied till 2am... we had a designated driver too woo hooo.  So Julie, Debbie, Chuck, Julie's sister, Julie's brother-n-law, Julie's sister's friend (well, that's how they were introduced to me hehe) Lois or Tex or something, and a couple others, Boy howdy, if you are in Outskirts and they are there! Look out, a good time will be had for all!  Oh, and one note to the gang, I still say that gal had her blouse on backwards hahaha....Later on in the Week Donna Showed up and we all partied at Outskirts even Harder then before, But Good Ole Grilldog called a cab woof!

What a great Pizza Buffet while you're in town.  Ci Ci's over by the mall is awesome.  The must have had at least 12 different varieties of pizza to choose from and a bunch of other stuffed and rolled goodies, a Salad Bar and all the soda you can drink.  All of this for under 5 bucks.  You can't beat that with a stick. I've been to similar at Pizza Hut, but this is much much better!

Oh, Lone Star Beer Sucks, I didn't know how much it was, But I have a Buddy, Dan, who lives in San Antonio where Lone Star Beer is made, it was on Sale! I didn't check the price, but figured I'd try some of my buddies home town Brew! Nasty, doesn't even begin to describe the taste, they probably serve it at that Thai Restaurant in Warner Robins.

Next stop was the East Wok on Burkburnett Road.  This is a Koren/Chinese buffet, just outside the gates of Sheppard AFB.  Pretty good. It's small and homey and the folks there treat you right.  A couple Paws up from Grilldog for the crew at the East Wok.

Always in Search of a great BBQ, I was steered in the direction of the Neon Spur.  Now everyone knows that I, Grilldog Love the Branding Iron here in Wichita Falls, but they are only for lunch.  So where to go for dinner, well for dinner and entertainment, you go to the Neon Spur...A great place, even when a live band isn't playing.  Great BBQ and Great service staff.. Paws up for the Neon BBQ on N Burnett Street.

Now a little known fact about Grilldogs is that Grilldogs do not like to pay full price for anything.  So when Grilldog's sniffing out a great deal on jewelry or cameras etc, he goes to Pawn Shops.  That's right! Woof.  So this weekend when a camera purchase was called upon Surles was the place to go, this dude knows his camera's.

Also plenty of food at the China Star Chinese Buffet.

Friday night had Grilldog and company starting out at the Neon Spur for some really horrible rock music, this band was bad!  So we headed out to Grahm's Station for some hip shaking and some booze drinking, and shooter shooting Texas Good Time.  Moving on, we found ourselves at Outskirts, a great place and great friends woof!!!

Saturday morning, Grilldog found himself at Cooley's Western Wear for some major attire purchasing!  From there a trip back in time to Oklahoma to Mt Scott, Medicine village, Holy City and of course Meers for a Meers Steer Burger!

There's a picture page of Saturday night's activities so you all can see what Grilldog's and the Pack does best, trust me, those of weak heart and strong morality should set your browser elsewhere.  It's not developed yet, I'm waiting for the shots to be digitized.  It's from the Adventures in the Outskirts woof.

Sunday Uncle Lynn's Catfish was revisited (see last trip)  Actually, the food and service was much better then last time, guess that's a good point to remember, go on a Sunday Afternoon.

Now, Kay, at El Chico's Mexican Cantina, wins the Grilldog 4 paws and a tail salute for awesome service.  The food was good but pricey for what was delivered and the margaritas are pale in comparisons to those in San Diego.  But Kay kept us entertained!  You go Kay! one of the Super hostesses..

The Neon Spur seemed to be where you could find ole Grilldog in the evening.  Good Food and Fun and you can count on Kim for excellent service...Thanks KIM...a couple Woof's Woof's for ya!!!

There's a Cajun Buffet someplace in town where the gang went for lunch, it was ok, in fact you can tell I was impressed, I can't remember the name, and all I drank was diet Coke!

The Armadillo or Amerillo?...Now there's a nice place over by the mall, I'll never forget the name...but they do take customer service issues seriously and are pleasant.  The food was fresh, prepared to order and reasonable prices.  Check it out!

And that's the Grilldog Report for my Stay in Wichita Falls, TX.  Next Stop, a weekend home in San Diego, then Junction City, KS...Where???
Does Totto know about this place?
