The Rubbing it right show was awesatious We filmed it at Grill pickles in Chula Vista. They shot BBQ sauce at me and even my goggles didn't protect me. We had a lot of fun and we put rub on things you wouldn't believe. This is going to be a show that everyone should see. We really take a bite out One Network Chef in revealing their secrets that really isn't that secret. So look forward to taking the Wam out of someone sails and learn some great foods that you can spice up really easily without spending all your hard earned money on some international Chef's Secret ingredient!
Sounds wonderful. So whose secret is it? What is the secret?
ahh, well, I don't like to reveal names but it's the big "E" who Martha Stewart just bought out so "HE" won't be making any new shows any more but, you know as well as I that things like Crab Boil and BBQ rub can be used on tons of stuff. not much secret about that.
And if you buy any one of his spices or rubs you can make all of them. They are basically variants on the same recipe. If you have any taste buds at all, you can figure out the "essence" of these seasonings.
that is true, it is one of the main thrusts of my genius of a show. I remember being at a party and they had the food network on (more as background noise more then anything) and someone asked me what I thought about the recipe this guy was making and I guessed everything on cue and he said, Just One More thing and I said Oh Gag me, he's reaching for his SECRET blend of spices and sure enough. Nothing like a little paprika, some sort of garlic powder-salt-what ever, celery salt and numerous other spices you can choose from but that's pretty much it. Now I think I'll retire and rub my crystal ball of secrets.
But you have to admire their enterprise.
I use to admire all that stuff still started working on my show and realized what it takes to do a show and the difference between teaching someone how to do something and selling something.
Yeah, but if it were that easy to formulate a commercial product and get it sold a lot more people would have done it. I sure never got it done even though I have better recipes than half the "celebrity chefs".
I might have stated this before but there is a network of "culinary writers" around the US that the producers of these shows use for the "Chefs" on air recipes. They are not the on air Chef's recipes (unlike my show, which are my recipes). Basically, it's like an email chain. A notice goes out that the Network show is looking for a specific theme. Then the producers (not the chef) decides which recipe they can work with for their shows concept. The producers put it all together, tell the chef what they need to do for the show and voila instand food network tv...

I'm sure your recipes are much better... say maybe you should hook into that network of writers and make some money on the side!!! :-)
Sure. Do you have a link or an address for it?
